The Oyo State Executive Council has approved the immediate construction and rehabilitation of schools across the state, following the implementation of the ₦80,000 minimum wage. The initiative aims to create a more conducive environment for both students and teachers to promote educational development. The project, costing ₦9.97 billion, will involve 50 contractors and focus on perimeter fencing, toilet facilities, solar boreholes, solar lights, and furniture. The Council also approved the second phase upgrade of the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport, which will cost ₦7 billion, to meet the International Civil Aviation Organisation standards. Governor Seyi Makinde emphasized that the state would not compromise on the airport’s upgrade to international status and that all necessary diligence would be followed in the process.
