Nigeria’s construction sector continues to gain momentum as President Bola Tinubu announced that more than 15,000 housing units are currently under construction nationwide under the Renewed Hope Housing Programme.
The initiative aims to deliver 100,000 homes across the country, with major projects including over 3,000 housing units in Karsana, Abuja and a 2,000-unit housing city in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, which is nearing completion.
To support project delivery, the government is introducing reforms to improve equipment leasing, land registration and access to building materials through regional materials hubs.
With Nigeria requiring an estimated 550,000 new housing units annually, the programme is expected to create significant opportunities for contractors, developers, consultants and building materials suppliers while helping to address the country's housing deficit.
